Background of the study

Ethical pricing strategies are essential for reinforcing consumer trust and enhancing product value perception, particularly for brands that emphasize sustainability. In Kaduna, green electronics brands are adopting transparent pricing methods that reflect the ethical sourcing and production practices of their products (Okafor, 2023). Such strategies ensure that consumers perceive the price as fair and justified by the product’s sustainable attributes. Ethical pricing not only builds trust but also differentiates a brand in a competitive market by underscoring its commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Research indicates that transparent and ethical pricing can lead to more favorable consumer evaluations of product value and quality (Ibrahim, 2024). This study examines how ethical pricing strategies affect customer perception of product value for a green electronics brand in Kaduna, identifying the key elements that influence consumer evaluations.

Statement of the problem:

Green electronics brands in Kaduna often encounter difficulties in implementing ethical pricing strategies that resonate with consumers. Inconsistent or opaque pricing may lead to consumer skepticism, reducing perceived product value and undermining trust (Okafor, 2023). When consumers are uncertain about the fairness of the price, they may devalue the product regardless of its quality. This disconnect can negatively impact purchase decisions and brand loyalty. Identifying the specific ethical pricing elements that most effectively enhance consumer perception of product value is therefore crucial for green electronics brands (Ibrahim, 2024).
